"realvirtual GmbH builds an industrial digital twin and virtual commissioning platform on top of the Unity game engine, letting engineers drive a 3D model of a machine or line from a real PLC or robot controller before any steel is cut. The company trades as realvirtual.io and was previously known as game4automation, the name its Unity asset was published under; the old domain and the old LinkedIn handle are both still in circulation. It is registered at Finkenweg 38 in Sinzheim, Baden-Wuerttemberg, in the commercial register of Mannheim under HRB 211375, with Dr Thomas Strigl as managing director.
Connectivity is the substance of the product. More than 25 controller interfaces are supported, covering Siemens S7 and PLCSIM Advanced, Beckhoff TwinCAT ADS, OPC UA, Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP, MQTT, WebSocket and SIMIT on the PLC side, and KUKA, ABB, Universal Robots, FANUC, Denso, Mitsubishi and RoboDK on the robot side, with Bosch Rexroth ctrlX, Keba and Festo AX reachable through the gateway product. CAD comes in as STEP, JT, USD or GLB. Typical uses are collision validation and cycle-time measurement, virtual commissioning against live controller code, 3D human-machine interfaces and machine information systems, interactive sales visualisation, and generating synthetic data to train vision models.
The commercial model is unusual for industrial software and is part of why the product spread. A Starter edition is free on the Unity Asset Store. The Professional edition is a one-time EUR 1,250 licence rather than a subscription. realvirtual WEB, the browser runtime built on Three.js, React and WebGL, is released as open source under AGPL, with a commercial licence at EUR 1,920 per developer per year plus deployment fees for companies that cannot accept AGPL terms. realvirtual CONNECT is a node-locked tray gateway for Windows and Linux that streams live controller signals into the browser runtime, free up to 20 signals, EUR 1,250 a year for unlimited signals, or EUR 3,900 as a perpetual licence. An AI Builder package is distributed through the Unity Asset Store as well.
Reference deployments include a machine information system for Mauser Packaging Solutions and virtual commissioning work with SEW-EURODRIVE. Unity lists the company as a verified solution provider, and the ecosystem extends to Algoryx for physics, RoboDK for robot programming and CMC Engineers, with regional partners Denso and SmartScape in Japan, ikazin in South America, Unpro in Turkey and Zhixia in China. The buyer profile is machine builders, system integrators, PLC programmers, plant operators and sales engineering teams rather than end consumers of robots."
