"Industrial Digital Twin Platform"
German maker of a Unity-based digital twin and virtual commissioning platform with 25+ PLC interfaces, sold as a one-time licence and an AGPL web runtime.
"realvirtual GmbH builds an industrial digital twin and virtual commissioning platform on top of the Unity game engine, letting engineers drive a 3D model of a machine or line from a real PLC or robot controller before any steel is cut. The company trades as realvirtual.io and was previously known as game4automation, the name its Unity asset was published under; the old domain and the old LinkedIn handle are both still in circulation. It is registered at Finkenweg 38 in Sinzheim, Baden-Wuerttemberg, in the commercial register of Mannheim under HRB 211375, with Dr Thomas Strigl as managing director.
Connectivity is the substance of the product. More than 25 controller interfaces are supported, covering Siemens S7 and PLCSIM Advanced, Beckhoff TwinCAT ADS, OPC UA, Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP, MQTT, WebSocket and SIMIT on the PLC side, and KUKA, ABB, Universal Robots, FANUC, Denso, Mitsubishi and RoboDK on the robot side, with Bosch Rexroth ctrlX, Keba and Festo AX reachable through the gateway product. CAD comes in as STEP, JT, USD or GLB. Typical uses are collision validation and cycle-time measurement, virtual commissioning against live controller code, 3D human-machine interfaces and machine information systems, interactive sales visualisation, and generating synthetic data to train vision models.
The commercial model is unusual for industrial software and is part of why the product spread. A Starter edition is free on the Unity Asset Store. The Professional edition is a one-time EUR 1,250 licence rather than a subscription. realvirtual WEB, the browser runtime built on Three.js, React and WebGL, is released as open source under AGPL, with a commercial licence at EUR 1,920 per developer per year plus deployment fees for companies that cannot accept AGPL terms. realvirtual CONNECT is a node-locked tray gateway for Windows and Linux that streams live controller signals into the browser runtime, free up to 20 signals, EUR 1,250 a year for unlimited signals, or EUR 3,900 as a perpetual licence. An AI Builder package is distributed through the Unity Asset Store as well.
Reference deployments include a machine information system for Mauser Packaging Solutions and virtual commissioning work with SEW-EURODRIVE. Unity lists the company as a verified solution provider, and the ecosystem extends to Algoryx for physics, RoboDK for robot programming and CMC Engineers, with regional partners Denso and SmartScape in Japan, ikazin in South America, Unpro in Turkey and Zhixia in China. The buyer profile is machine builders, system integrators, PLC programmers, plant operators and sales engineering teams rather than end consumers of robots."

AutomationWorld.com 6 hours ago Factory / RoboticsIn manufacturing, data generation is abundant, with machines continuously producing events, counters, and parameters. However, many plants still rely on informal updates rather than a cohesive understanding of operations. This highlights a common misconception in digital transformation: that simply collecting more data leads to improved operations. Instead, data becomes valuable when contextualized and integrated into decision-making routines, a crucial function of MES/MOM systems. The significance of a robust data model cannot be overstated, as it provides the necessary context for interpreting machine signals. Without a clear structure, dashboards may appear impressive but lack analytical depth, leading to inconsistent interpretations across teams. Master data, including product definitions and quality parameters, plays a vital role in establishing a stable operational picture, impacting the effectiveness of KPIs and decision-making processes. To enhance decision-making, organizations must prioritize specific areas for improvement, such as recurring line losses or quality issues. Effective management routines, alongside well-defined data governance, can yield greater value than sophisticated analytics tools. As organizations align on core definitions and contextualized data, they can leverage advanced analytics and foster collaboration across multiple sites, ultimately driving better operational outcomes.

InterestingEngineering.com Sep 13, 2026 MilitaryGAM has developed rack, pinion, and gearbox systems designed for high performance across all components. A rack and pinion system operates by converting rotational motion from the pinion into linear motion via the rack. Choosing the correct system is crucial, as improper selection can lead to performance issues and increased costs. According to Matt Ruggles, senior design engineer at GAM, selecting the right size for the rack and pinion is essential to avoid breakage or space constraints. The size of the pinion must match the rack to achieve the desired speed and feed force. Additionally, the overall dimensions influence inertia matching between the motor and load, impacting system smoothness. The selection process typically begins with either speed or feed force requirements. If feed force is prioritized, the rack must be adequately sized to transmit the necessary force. Conversely, if speed is the focus, the system must be configured to meet the target speed. Higher precision applications may require specific tooth sizes and shapes, with helical teeth providing smoother motion compared to straight teeth.

leaderobot.com Sep 11, 2026 Warehouse Automation Robotics Industrial Automation Logistics TechnologyIn manufacturing plants, workflows often diverge between documented procedures and actual practices on the floor. This discrepancy leads to automation projects stalling, as the systems implemented follow the documented version, while undocumented exceptions continue to operate as usual. For instance, a scheduling or pricing call may rely on a single trusted individual, with no formal documentation outlining the approval process. The significance of addressing these gaps cannot be overstated. When automation is applied without considering these exceptions, they simply shift to informal channels like email or spreadsheets, creating new bypasses that undermine the intended efficiency. To mitigate this issue, it is crucial to identify and document these exceptions before scoping automation projects. To effectively capture these gaps, conducting a tabletop walkthrough can be beneficial. By having an employee unfamiliar with the workflow explain the process step by step, it becomes easier to identify points of confusion or undocumented approvals. These insights should be incorporated into the requirements document to ensure that automation is aligned with the actual workflow, thereby enhancing operational efficiency.
