Company Overview

Rapyuta Robotics is a Tokyo-based cloud robotics company founded in July 2014 as a spinoff from ETH Zurich. The company was co-founded by CEO Gajan Mohanarajah (Ph.D., ETH Zurich, 2014) and CFO Arudchelvan Krishnamoorthy, who originally met as undergraduates at the Tokyo Institute of Technology. The company's head office is located at 1-29-13-8F Shinkawa, Chuo-ku, Tokyo 104-0033, Japan, with additional offices in India and Chicago, Illinois (opened 2023 as its first U.S. expansion).

Rapyuta Robotics operates in two complementary areas: hardware (autonomous mobile robots for warehouses) and software (the rapyuta.io cloud robotics platform). Its flagship hardware product is the Rapyuta PA-AMR (Pick Assist Autonomous Mobile Robot), designed for goods-to-person and person-to-goods picking workflows in fulfillment centers, distribution centers, and 3PL facilities. PA-AMRs autonomously navigate warehouse floors carrying orders and working alongside human pickers, improving picking productivity by approximately 2x by eliminating walking time.

The system requires no changes to existing warehouse layouts and takes less than one hour to train warehouse staff. Rapyuta also offers the Rapyuta ASRS (Autonomous Storage and Retrieval System) for high-density storage and the Rapyuta AFL autonomous forklift solution. The rapyuta.io platform — described as the world's first all-in-one DevOps platform for cloud-connected robots — enables multi-robot coordination, remote operations, fleet monitoring, and integration with enterprise WMS (Warehouse Management Systems).

The platform distributes intelligence to the cloud, allowing robots to be lighter, cheaper, and more flexibly updated. Rapyuta Robotics is the market leader in pick-assist AMRs in Japan and has strategic investors including Yaskawa Electric Corporation and Monoful Inc. (a GLP Japan group company). The company raised a $51 million Series C round in April 2022.

It has been selected for Microsoft for Startups Founders Hub.
