Pipeway Engenharia, which operates internationally as Pipeway Intl., is a Brazilian pipeline-inspection company headquartered in Rio de Janeiro. It was founded in 1997 by researchers from the Pontificia Universidade Catolica do Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio), building on inspection technology developed with Petrobras's CENPES research center, and is described as the only Southern Hemisphere company that fully manufactures and operates in-line inspection pigs using domestically developed technology.
Its in-line inspection (ILI) tools use magnetic flux leakage (MFL) sensing built around rare-earth neodymium iron boron magnets to detect corrosion, wall-thickness loss, ovality, and crushing, with a range spanning MFL-A, MFL-C, external MFL, and MFL Ultra tools alongside internal profiling and ultrasonic units. Caliper pigs measure pipeline geometry for dents, bends, and deformations, and integrity services cover fitness-for-service assessment and corrosion growth analysis, spanning diameters from 4 to 48 inches.
Pipeway holds ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 certification, operates in over 30 countries, and has inspected more than 150,000 km of pipeline across Brazil and most of the Americas. Pipeway International extends its reach into North America via US partnerships, and WIPO has recognized the company's use of intellectual property in pipeline integrity.
