The company develops, manufactures, and installs laser-based production equipment for metalworking in the manufacturing industry, with a focus on raising customer productivity, product quality, and profitability through laser technology.
Permanova's core application areas are laser welding and laser-based additive manufacturing (AM). For laser welding, the company integrates high-power fiber lasers with industrial robots to achieve spot diameters of approximately 0.5 mm, enabling weld speeds of up to 6 m/min in sheet metal applications with minimal heat input and distortion. For additive manufacturing, Permanova develops directed energy deposition (DED) systems using powder or wire feedstock that allow near-net-shape part building and component repair without extensive machining.

Permanova also distributes laser diagnostic and monitoring equipment from the German manufacturer Primes GmbH under a partnership arrangement. The Primes product portfolio includes: FocusMonitor FM+ and FMW+ (focus measurement), LaserQualityMonitor LQM+ (beam quality), BeamMonitor BM+ (beam profile), CompactPowerMonitor and PowerMonitor (laser power measurement), BeamControlSystem, and FocusParameterMonitor.
