"Advanced Autonomous Robotics for Extreme Environments"
Canadian RaaS firm building autonomous outdoor robots IRIS and BOX for data capture and infrastructure support on construction sites and extreme environments.
Optimotive (Optimotive Technologies Inc.) is a Canadian robotics-as-a-service company founded in 2016 by Scott Fairley, headquartered in Windsor, Ontario. The company builds and operates autonomous robots designed for hazardous, outdoor, and extreme environments. Its primary platform, IRIS, is a field data capture robot capable of performing 3D scans and 360-degree photography for BIM/VDC applications and quality assurance in the renewables sector, particularly solar.
BOX is an autonomous infrastructure hub providing charging, Starlink connectivity, and data upload capabilities, enabling fully autonomous robotic operations without constant human attendance. Two additional platforms, MULE and SCRUBBLES, have been announced for site logistics and cleaning tasks. All robots are built, assembled, and tested in Windsor, Ontario.
Customers include Ellis Don, Pomerleau, and Borea. In September 2024, Optimotive raised $2 million USD in a seed round led by Version One Ventures with participation from Garage Capital and NewLab.

Construction sites waste 30% of worker time moving materials. Autonomous material logistics robots — from Kewazo's Liftbot to Bedrock Robotics and GoLe AMRs — are eliminating that waste. Key stat: Kewazo Liftbot saves 70% of scaffold man-hours. This segment delivers better ROI than headline bricklayers.
