Madison Area Technical College
Wisconsin technical college offering Electro-Mechanical Technology and Industrial Automation - Robotics programs.
Madison Area Technical College, known as Madison College, is a public technical and community college in Madison, Wisconsin, serving south-central Wisconsin from its main Truax campus and additional regional campuses. Within its engineering and applied technology offerings, the college operates programs directly relevant to robotics and industrial automation. The Electro-Mechanical Technology associate degree, which evolved from the former Automated Manufacturing Systems Technology program, prepares students for technician and engineering roles in industrial maintenance, automation, robotics, and manufacturing through coursework in electrical circuits, motors and generators, hydraulics and pneumatics, robotics, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), vision systems, and system integration, along with troubleshooting and repair of electromechanical equipment. The college also offers focused certificate pathways, including Industrial Automation - Robotics, which trains students to design, build, and program robots for manufacturing and automation applications, as well as Industrial Automation - System Integration and Industrial Automation - PLC and Controls certificates. Hands-on instruction is delivered at the Truax campus, where students work with industrial-grade automation and robotics equipment. As a member of A3 (the Association for Advancing Automation), the college aligns its curriculum with industry standards and workforce needs in automation and robotics.
These programs support a pipeline of skilled automation technicians and integrators for regional manufacturers, making Madison College a robotics-relevant education and workforce-development institution rather than a robotics product vendor. The college provides flexible scheduling with daytime and evening course options to support working students entering automation careers.
