Howmet Aerospace Inc. is a United States manufacturer of engineered metal products for the aerospace, defense, and commercial transportation markets, headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The company was formed on April 1, 2020, when Arconic Inc. split into two publicly traded companies: Arconic Inc. was renamed Howmet Aerospace and retained the Engine Products, Engineered Structures, Fastening Systems, and Forged Wheels businesses, while a new Arconic Corporation took the rolled-products operations. Howmet trades on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker HWM.
Product lines include investment-cast nickel-superalloy turbine blades and vanes for jet engines and industrial gas turbines, titanium and aluminum structural airframe components, aerospace and transportation fasteners, and forged aluminum truck wheels, a category the company originated with the first forged aluminum truck wheel in 1948. In metal additive manufacturing, Howmet has supplied 3D-printed titanium brackets used on series-production Airbus A350 aircraft since 2017 and entered a 2018 joint development agreement with Lockheed Martin on metal 3D printing and lightweight material systems.
