XIMEA GmbH is a privately held German technology company founded in 2010 and headquartered in Münster, Germany, with a US subsidiary (XIMEA Corp.) established in June 2011. The company traces its roots to Softhard Technologies, founded in 1992 by Slava Klimkovitch, which accumulated more than 25 years of imaging and real-time signal processing expertise before being rebranded as XIMEA. Dr. Vasant Desai, formerly CEO of Olympus Soft Imaging Solutions, co-founded XIMEA GmbH as its sales and marketing arm.
XIMEA develops, manufactures, and distributes high-end industrial and scientific cameras featuring CMOS and sCMOS sensors with USB 3.1 and PCI Express (PCIe) interfaces. The company is widely recognized for a series of world firsts: the world's smallest USB3 camera (2012), the first PCI Express camera with 20 Gbit/s bandwidth (2013), the world's smallest hyperspectral cameras (2014), and PCIe Gen3 cameras with 64 Gbit/s bandwidth (2015).

Today, approximately 50% of XIMEA revenue comes from its standard product portfolio and 50% from OEM/custom projects. Cameras are deployed in robot guidance, semiconductor wafer inspection, PCB quality control, flat-panel display testing, high-speed industrial analysis, life sciences, agriculture, and drone-based imaging. XIMEA supports Linux, Windows, macOS, and NVIDIA Jetson platforms through its xiAPI SDK and integration with standard machine vision libraries including Halcon, LabVIEW, and OpenCV.
