Treventus Mechatronics GmbH, founded in 2006 as a spin-off of the Vienna University of Technology, is an Austrian manufacturer of autonomous book scanning robots. The company is headquartered in Vienna, Austria. Its flagship product, the ScanRobot 2.0 MDS (Mass Digitization System), was first introduced to market in 2007 and has been internationally patented.

The ScanRobot 2.0 MDS is designed for large-volume digitization of bound materials including books, journals, and archival documents. A key design feature is that the scanner requires no page touching — an integrated robotic mechanism autonomously turns pages without manual intervention, enabling fully unattended operation. The system operates at up to 2,500 pages per hour in automatic mode, 1,000 pages per hour in semi-automatic mode, and 350 pages per hour in manual single-scan mode.

Resolution is 300 dpi optical standard (400 dpi optional), with a scan area supporting pages up to 12.6 x 12.6 inches (dual-page) or 11.8 x 17 inches (single scan). Output formats include JPEG, JPEG2000, TIFF, TIFF G4, PNG, GIF, BMP, PDF (with OCR layer), XML, and DjVu. The ScanRobot features the smallest opening angle among automatic book scanners on the market (adjustable between 60 and 100 degrees), enabling scanning of fragile or tightly bound volumes without damage.

The system includes self-centering and automatic book spine detection. Customers include national libraries, university libraries, and large-scale digitization service providers worldwide.
