Company Overview

Resonon Inc. is a US-based manufacturer of hyperspectral imaging cameras, systems, and software, headquartered at 123 Commercial Drive, Bozeman, Montana 59715. The company was founded in 2002 and has over 20 years of experience designing, manufacturing, and deploying push-broom hyperspectral imaging solutions. With more than 1,000 systems deployed worldwide, Resonon's client base includes NASA (ArcStone satellite instrument), NOAA (Moby Marine Optical Buoy), and NIST.

The core product family is the Pika series of hyperspectral cameras, covering spectral ranges from ultraviolet to shortwave infrared: Pika UV (330–800 nm), Pika L (400–1000 nm), Pika L-F (420–980 nm), Pika XC2 (400–1000 nm), Pika IR (900–1700 nm), Pika IR+ (900–1700 nm), Pika IR-L (925–1700 nm), Pika IR-L+ (925–1700 nm), and Pika SWIR (1000–2500 nm). These cameras are integrated into a range of complete imaging systems: airborne remote sensing kits for UAVs and aircraft (including a fully-integrated airborne system with GPS/IMU and autopilot integration), outdoor field systems, benchtop reflectance and reflectance/transmission systems for laboratory use, the SpectralSight automated hyperspectral inspection system for industrial machine vision, and the Bio-LIF fluorescence imaging system for biotechnology research.

Resonon develops all supporting software in-house, including Spectronon (data acquisition, processing, and classification), Airborne software (geocorrection, radiance/reflectance conversion), and RVS Real-time Vision System (industrial machine vision). Systems are designed, fabricated, and assembled in the USA with a standard two-year warranty; field units routinely operate for more than 10 years.

Application areas include precision agriculture (plant health, weed detection, yield prediction, ripeness assessment), food production and safety (bruise detection in apples, breading inspection on chicken nuggets, sorting and grading), environmental monitoring (water quality, vegetation health), biotechnology, remote sensing, and industrial quality control. Resonon cameras have also been integrated into autonomous robotic systems for AI-driven object classification tasks, such as plastic waste identification. The company partners with Vision Aerial for integrated UAV-mounted hyperspectral sensing packages.
