OCTOPUZ Inc., founded in 2013 and headquartered in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, develops intelligent offline robot programming (OLRP) software that enables complex industrial robot applications to be programmed in a virtual environment without disrupting live manufacturing operations. The software supports multiple robot brands and configurations simultaneously, automatically detecting singularities, joint limits, reach limits, and collisions while providing real-time corrective solutions. OCTOPUZ supports a wide range of applications including arc welding, cutting, machining, additive manufacturing, spraying, and material handling.
The platform imports CAD geometry directly and can reduce robot program development time from weeks to a single day, enabling cost-effective short-run production. OCTOPUZ includes weld planning tools with support for stitching, multi-layer, weaving, and seam-tracking strategies. In January 2021, OCTOPUZ was acquired by ESAB Group Canada Inc., integrating the software into ESAB's welding automation portfolio.
The team continues to operate independently within ESAB from its Waterloo location.
